On February 28th, 2024, the ICS Battipaglia Salvemini was abuzz with enthusiasm as it hosted the highly anticipated Multiplier Event for the Steaming Ahead project. This initiative aimed to showcase two years of dedicated work on Steam methodologies, emphasizing the integration of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) into education.
In collaboration with the Lions Club Eboli Battipaglia Host, the event attracted ninety-five attendees, predominantly students, who eagerly participated in a series of engaging presentations and activities centered around the theme «Steam and the 4R.» The focus was on demonstrating how Science, Technology, Art, and Mathematics can support the principles of Recycling, Reuse, Recovery, and Reduction through hands-on projects.
Some of the highlighted activities included the reproduction of artwork using recovered materials, engaging special needs students through inclusive Steam activities, and the creation of touch screen pens from recycled materials, showcasing the innovative potential of Steam technology and reuse.
The event also served as a platform for the dissemination of the Erasmus+ Project: “Steaming Ahead…”. Participants gained insights into the project’s objectives, particularly its impact on primary and secondary school students at ICS Battipaglia Salvemini. The project aimed to develop comprehensive pedagogical resources derived from STEM methodologies, with a particular emphasis on experimentation with the «Golden Ratio» and the reuse of materials.
The success of the event would not have been possible without the generous support and cooperation of various individuals and organizations. Special thanks were extended to the Lions Clubs International Distretto 108YA Eboli-Battipaglia Host for their collaboration. Additionally, gratitude was expressed to key figures including District Coordinator Dr. Miriam D’Ambrosio, President of Lions Club Eboli Battipaglia Host Dr. Sergio Esposito, and the dedicated team of educators from ICS Battipaglia Salvemini, including Mrs. Susi Leo, Mrs. Daniela Carlotti, Mrs. Ornella Auletta, Mrs. Mariantonietta Boffa, and Mr. Giampaolo Naimoli.
The event concluded on a note of celebration and appreciation for the collaborative efforts that have enriched the educational landscape of Battipaglia and beyond. As the Steaming Ahead project continues to inspire innovation and creativity, its impact on shaping the future of education remains profound.
