The School of Education of the Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra was the venue for the closing meeting of the European project STEAMing Ahead: Moving the STEAM Approach forward through teacher-led cooperation, held on 22-23 February.
STEAMing Ahead has influenced the educational field by developing and implementing a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) approach in the educational process. In this approach, art and culture emerge as essential dimensions of an interdisciplinary and articulated pedagogical practice in the various curricular areas of basic education, especially those related to science, technology and mathematics.
The main objective of this project has been to create a comprehensive and detailed set of resources, strategies and pedagogical methodologies for teaching STEAM, using the golden ratio as a common reference. This translates into the implementation of practical classroom activities that foster the development of key competences among students.
The closing meeting was a crucial moment to share the achievements of the project, as well as to reflect on future challenges and opportunities in the field of STEAM education. Teacher collaboration has been central to the success of STEAMing Ahead, highlighting the crucial role that teachers play in promoting innovative and effective educational approaches.
